In the latest news of old Bollywood movies getting sequels, reports of Dhadkan (2000) getting a second instalment have emerged. The original film featured Akshay Kumar, Shilpa Shetty and Suniel Shetty. Now, it looks like the makers are up for Dhadkan 2.In an interview with a leading news portal, Dhadkan’s director Dharmesh Darshan revealed that he is often asked about Dhadkan and if the film would get a sequel. When asked about possible plans for Dhadkan 2, he said that he was approached for the project by the producer of the original film, Ratan Jain.
He also shared that he has been declining the offer for a decade considering Dhadkan is a classic and sequels are always tricky and he doesn’t want to “encash” on a film that has “stood the test of time.”
That being said, the popularity of Gadar 2 starring Sunny Deol and Ameesha Patel has opened up the discourse around reviving classics. Darshan was offered Dhadkan 2 again earlier this month. However, he has not confirmed the film or discussed the casting. Currently, there is no official confirmation of the project.
Akshay Kumar was last seen in OMG 2 which opened to good critical and audience reception. Meanwhile, Shilpa Shetty is gearing up for the release of her next, Sukhee.
